MLK Camp - Awareness Camp

The main focus of this 1 day camp will be on Awareness. After watching players in all our programs and in games, awareness is one of the biggest pieces of the game that we feel is lacking in this area. When coaches want players to play faster, it often stems from having a good sense of your surroundings and making quick decisions based on what you see, feel, or hear. At this camp we will work on the following topics based on the age and ability of each group:

• Using peripheral vision while dribbling
• When to dribble, when to pass
• Making decisions as the ball is coming to you
• Hitting different types of passes/shots based on surroundings
• Scanning/Checking shoulders
• Positional awareness (rotating or filling in for teammates)

Players will be separated by age, ability and gender (when possible).

**If you sign up as a goalkeeper, you will take part in technical training from 9-11am and then play in goal for the scrimmages from 11-12pm. Goalkeepers are welcome to stay the full day and will get some work in the field while still playing goalie in games/activities if they want. Ages: 6-15

Times: Half Day: 9 am - 12 pm / Full Day: 9 am - 3 pm

Cost: $80 for Half Day / $125 for Full Day

Sample Schedule

• 9 am - Morning Challenges and Split into age/ability apropriate groups
• 9:10 - 11 am - Awareness Activities/Drills
• 11 - 11:15 am - Short snack break
• 11:15 - 12 pm - Small Sided Tournament Games
• 12 pm - Lunch / Half day campers are dismissed
• 12:40pm - 2 pm - Speed of Play and Decision Making Session 2
• 2 - 2:10 pm - Short break
• 2:10pm - 3 pm - Bigger sided Scrimmages
• 3 pm - Camp debrief/awards/ Dismissal
